ADHD: Child Life and Attention Skills Group

Summer has come and gone and it is time to face the music: school is coming. How do we prepare our children (and ourselves) for a successful start to a new school year?

The Child Life and Attention Skills Program is a collaborative school-home intervention for children grades 4 – 9th who struggle with the challenges of Inattentive ADHD.

Children with the inattentive type of ADHD (ADHD-I) show high rates of attention difficulties without the hyperactive and impulsive behavior shown by children with ADHD Combined Type (ADHD-C). The inattentive type of ADHD is quite common and is associated with significant impairment with school work, planning and organizational skills, processing speed, and peer relations.

This 8-week group includes both a parent and a child component with FUN hands-on activities that teach organization, planning, goal setting, attention and peer relations. Flexible teacher consultation are included to provide wrap-around support for struggling students. Class size limited to 8 children.
